Focus and Aim

The primary aim of this CAS activity is to enhance communication skills within the realm of mathematics. Oftentimes, phrasing ideas clearly and cohesively requires a lot of practice and yet is an important skill in scientific research. Taking advantage of my passion for mathematics, I will create a blog where I explain my solutions to and thought processes in mathematical olympiad problems. To further prepare for future mathematical research, I will build the entire website in German. This will help to learn subject-specific vocabulary, which will provide me with the skills to comprehend mathematical essays, publications, and works in German, which appears a lot in research papers.

Investigation & Preparation

Every month, I will find a math olympiad past question, go through it in detail, and prepare all the necessary bits to compose a full proof.

Action

Write up the proofs in German, with clear diagrams and the best possible grammar. I will collaborate with my colleagues in the German class to peer-assess the use of language. By the end of the process, I will publish the article on my website.

Reflection

The process of writing the blog posts has been both challenging and rewarding. It has allowed me to delve deeper into mathematical problems and solutions, enhancing my problem-solving skills and understanding of mathematical concepts. Writing in German has also been beneficial, as it has improved my language skills and provided me with the opportunity to learn subject-specific vocabulary. Collaborating with my peers has been valuable, as it has allowed me to receive feedback on my writing and improve my language skills. Overall, this CAS activity has been a valuable learning experience that has allowed me to develop a range of skills and deepen my understanding of mathematics and the German language.
